Terms of Use

The short version: be a good friend. PhoneStack is for helping each other spend less time on distracting apps. Roasting a friend who broke the pact is part of the game; harassing, impersonating, or spamming anyone is not. You can block or report anyone in the app; we review every report within 24 hours and remove people and content that break these rules.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By creating a PhoneStack account or using the PhoneStack iOS app, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use PhoneStack. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use PhoneStack.

2. Your account

You're responsible for your account and for keeping your password private. Your username and display name must not impersonate another person, contain slurs, or otherwise violate the content rules below. You can delete your account at any time from the Me tab; deletion permanently erases your profile, friends, pacts, goals, and streaks.

3. Content and conduct rules: zero tolerance

PhoneStack contains user-generated content: names, usernames, profile photos, Stack and Pact titles, goals, friend requests, nudges, and roasts (typed or voice). Roasts are meant as banter between friends who agreed to a pact together. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on PhoneStack. In particular, you may not:

4. Blocking and reporting: reviewed within 24 hours

You can block any user (from the Friends tab: swipe on a friend or long-press a friend request). Blocking removes them from your friends, hides their roasts, and prevents them from ever sending you requests or seeing your activity. You can report any user the same way, and you can report an individual roast by pressing and holding it. We review every report within 24 hours, and we remove offending content and eject users who violate these rules, including permanently banning repeat or serious offenders.

5. Screen time features

PhoneStack uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) frameworks to let you limit and block distracting apps you choose. App blocking only ever applies to your own device, based on your own choices. PhoneStack is a self-management tool, not medical advice, and we can't guarantee any particular reduction in phone use (that part's on you and your friends).

6. The service

PhoneStack is provided "as is," free of charge, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PhoneStack and its operator are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use PhoneStack after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
